Flatten

In trading, “flatten position” or “flattening a position” refers to closing an existing open position, whether long or short, to eliminate any market exposure.

Flatten your current position by clicking the Flatten Position button. A market order will be submitted on the opposite side of your position, with a volume up to your Max Clip Size. If your net position is greater than your max clip size, it may take multiple attempts to fully flatten your position.

Note: The Flatten button must be enabled in: Main Properties → Window/Contract Window → Separate Order Type.

The Flatten button looks like this on your trade ladder:

Pull on Flatten attempts to pull all working orders in the selected market before flattening an open position using the Flatten tool.

When Pull on Flatten is enabled, a red box will appear around the button to indicate that you are using Pull on Flatten instead of the standard Flatten function.

Note: The Pull on Flatten button must be enabled in: Main Properties → Order Entry → Pull section.
